Senior Controls Engineer
Description / Responsibilities:
Hansen Medical is looking for a Senior Controls or Systems Engineer with substantial experience working in multi-disciplinary teams developing complex electro-mechanical systems. Responsibilities will include a substantial system integration role as well as the development of control algorithms, control software, user-interfaces, or visualization applications. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to participate at both the architectural level, as well as to be a hands-on contributor at the detail level. Working either independently or as part of a larger team, the candidate must have the ability to make sound technical decisions, prioritize project deadlines, and follow up with critical items.
Requirements:
Controls and systems experience:
- Hands-on experience integrating electro-mechanical systems including sensors, actuators, and control elements.
- Experience with the analysis and control of dynamic systems.
- Strong background in engineering fundamentals such as dynamics and solid mechanics.
- Hands on experience implementing, programming, and debugging real-time systems.
- Experience with robotics modeling including 3D transformations, forward and inverse kinematics.
Software experience:
- Solid software engineering and programming background, with experience in team application development.
- Complex algorithm development.
- Proven track record in OOD and C++.
- Experience with OpenGL and computer graphics.
General requirements:
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
- MS with 3 or more years of relevant experience, PhD preferred.
- Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience in the medical field a plus.
- Strong communications and people skills.
- Comfortable working with team members in adjacent disciplines of mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
